TOOLS

Engaging & Informing  Teams in Digital Accessibility practices.

WHAT IT IS

Do's and Don'ts posters for cognitive and sensory constraints in Digital Accessibility.

CHALLENGE

Our accessibility manager was having a difficult time getting many designers interested in applying accessibility practices since it was not yet required for them to do so.

She tasked me with creating an engaging representation of critical accessibility information for designers and developers based on the collection from gov.uk.

RESULTS

  1. The posters were distributed across UX in our global locations

  2. Designers were excited about the posters, shared them with developers, and began to use them as a reference in their work

Original Design from GOV.UK

The original designs did a great job of communicating the ideas clearly in a simplified form. It was a challenge for me to think about how I might meet the request to present the information differently in a way that would be more engaging for our team.

SENSORY CONSTRAINTS

I wanted to create a concept that highlighted the contrast between the experience of a Do/Don't in Digital Accessibility.

I was inspired by the idea of "the upside down" from Netflix's Stranger Things and combined the idea of a dark parallel universe with the travel industry (the industry we serve).

"I love the Cognitive Constraints poster!  This is super helpful – thank you for sharing!"
